Conflict of Interest Policy
DynaMed produces content free of the control of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)-defined commercial interests.
DynaMed is committed to creating high-quality, relevant, and practical medical and consumer health information. To maintain our evidence-based methodology and philosophy and meet Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation requirements, we produce content free of the control of ACCME-defined commercial interests.* We ensure that the content promotes improvements or quality in healthcare and not a specific proprietary business interest. No product, service, or therapy will be over-represented when comparing competing options; a balanced view of therapeutic options will be provided.
We require any relevant financial relationships with an ACCME-defined commercial interest, including those of a spouse/partner, to be disclosed prior to publishing content. Disclosure information is collected from all contributors on a yearly basis for review by the editorial team and Baylor University School of Medicine Office of Continuing Education. Refusal to provide disclosure information will result in those individuals being excused from participation. Relevant financial relationships with ACCME-defined commercial interests are resolved appropriately prior to publishing and are disclosed to users within the content. These practices ensure that the format, content, and related materials promote improvements or quality in healthcare and not a specific proprietary business interest of ACCME-defined commercial interests.
*The ACCME defines a commercial interest as any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients.
